MEPSSTM
Why Are People Excited About MEPSS?

The Maintainer’s Electronic Performance Support System (MEPSS™) is a decision support system that was developed for assistance in job performance. MEPSS™ was originally designed to improve the troubleshooting of the Navy’s P-3 engine driven compressor, a high readiness degrader and cost driver for this platform.

The problem with the existing system and process is that it is cumbersome to use, fails to provide a friendly user interface, and does not provide "at the equipment" support. MEPSS™ provides alternatives to traditional maintenance procedures through the use of:

  • Online manuals to replace bulky paper-based manuals
  • Decision-support systems
  • Training modules and procedure diagrams
  • Communication systems and knowledge capture
  • Real-time access to the maintenance information system

From MEPSS to UMEPSS

Building upon the original architecture and design of MEPSS, we were able to provide a similar tool to the Navy's UAV (Unmanned Air Vehicle) Fleet Support Team. This application is currently deployed to support the operations in Iraq.

MEPSS was the winner of the 2001 Gold Award for Excellence in E-Learning in the Performance Centered Design Category. This awards program is sponsored by brandon-hall.com and Online Learning Magazine.
